Font Ideas
Allstar, I like this font but I do not really think that it would fit in with my style of magazine, as it looks a bit academic or sporty.
Dreamer One, I like this font and I think that it would fit well with my genre of music and style of magazine as it is fancy and girly, which is good as it will appeal to my entire target market.
Tabitha, I really like this font as it sort of flows and stands out, I believe that it would really appeal to my target market, as it is very girly and cute.

Photo Analysis - Double Page Spread
I like this photo as it is good quality and has nice lighting. Although, I think that the background is a bit too domineering and that it would take over a double page spread.
I really like this photo as the colour of her eyes really stand out against the pink scarf and I think that it would work well on my double page spread as it is a medium close up and because it shows a lot of detail and has nice lighting.
I like this photo again as it is a medium close up and you see a lot of detail, it would make the reader feel closer to the artist if I used it in my double page spread.
Photo Analysis - Contents
I like this picture as it shows a boyband having a laugh but I don't think that it would look right on my contents page as one of the boys is not looking.
I do not really like this photo as the shadows are a bit to prominent, but it shows a boyband again having fun.
I like this photo as it is a medium shot so you get a closer view of the boyband, this could be used on my contents page as there is usually a medium/close up shot of a band in a music magazine contents page.
Photo Analysis - Front Cover
I like this photo as it is very clear and if I used it on my front cover it would be good as she would be in the left third. I probably will not use this as my main image though as a bit of her hair is in her face and it would be difficult to edit it out on photoshop.
I really like this photo as it is really good quality and the model looks very comfortable. This would look good as my main image as she would again be on the left third of the cover.
I don't really think that this photo would look good on my front cover as it is a long shot and front covers usually have medium shots on them and she is on the right hand side and not the left.

Double Page Spread Layout Ideas
I really like this layout as it is very neat and sophisticated. I like how the image takes up the whole right hand page as it would make the reader feel like they know the celebrity well. I like the way that the interview is laid out as it follows the usual conventions of a magazine.
I like this layout as there is a lot of room for an interview and story as it goes along the bottom of the page. I like the idea of the quote being in the corner of the picture as it will still stand out but not distract attention away from the image. The thing that I don't really like about this layout is that the picture is stretched along the top half of the double page spread, which I think would work better with a band rather than a solo artist.
I don't really like this layout idea as I think that there is a bit too much happening and that there is too much room for the interview, which would not appeal to my target market as they are more interested in looking at pictures. I quite like the idea of the image being central but it would not work as the centre crease of the magazine would go through the middle of it.
Contents Page Layout Ideas
I think that this layout has a bit to much going on and that it is a bit to childish for my target market. I also do not think that it would fit in well with my sophisticated style of magazine. On the other hand I do like the idea of having an image of the front cover on there to show what page the main stories are on.
I really like this layout idea as it is very neatly laid out and looks slightly sophisticated. I like the idea of having quite a few different sections of contents with section headings as it will help my audience find what they are looking for quicker. I really like the idea of the list of the charts on the right hand side of the page as this will appeal to my teenage target market as they like to be up to date with music. Many pictures would be used that fit with the different stories which is good as it will make the magazine more appealing to my target audience.
I think that this layout is very boring as there is nothing happening and the page looks quite empty. On the other hand I like the idea of having a large image on the page that refers to the main coverline as it would appeal to my target audience.
Front Cover Layout Ideas
I like this layout as the main image covers the whole which means it stands out to the audience even more. I also like the way that the other coverlines and polaroids surround the main image to show that they are still important. I like where the main coverline is placed as it is opposite the masthead.
I think that there is a bit too much going on in this layout as the masthead covers the main image which attracts attention away from the main image. I like the idea of the secondary coverlines being around the main image, as it shows there importance.
I like this layout as it very neat and looks very sophisticated, although I do think that there is a bit too much empty space. I like the idea of having the banner along the bottom of the page as it will stand out. I also like the idea of the main image being in the centre of the page with the secondary coverlines and images around it, as it shows that it is the main story inside the magazine.

Main Coverline Ideas
Ideas for the Main Coverline
- Britain's Best New Artist - An interview with a brand new artist in the charts. The artist is already in the public eye as having already released a single recently, which of course was very popular; the artists music style is very popular with the target market of the magazine. When the reader sees this artist on the front cover, due to their sudden popularity, they will want to read on to find out more. The interview will cover a double page spread in the magazine and will include: pictures, the interview and a short story to introduce the artist to the reader.
- From Rags to Riches - This story will be about how a popular artist went from having nothing to living the high life. The artist will be well-known by the target market as they are very popular. The story will include a brief interview with the artist so the reader can read what the artist's thoughts are; it will also include personal pictures of the artist from when they were growing up. I think that the target audience would find this really interesting to read about as they always want to know about celebrities lives outside the limelight.
- Backstage The Summertime Ball 2011 - This story will be about all of the backstage antics that went on at the Summertime Ball 2011. The story will include a few short interviews with the most popular acts of the concert and pictures of both onstage and backstage. I believe that the this story would really appeal to the target market group of my magazine as 'The Summertime Ball' is a very well-known concert with over 100,000 people attending it each year. This story would also fit in with my magazine as the performers at 'The Summertime Ball' are all different and sing different music styles.
- Hot New Boyband - This story will be about the newest boyband on the scene. The story will introduce each one of the boys in the band and give the reader a brief background on them. With my target market being teenage girls this would be a very good story to use as every teenage girl likes a hot boyband. There will also be pictures of the band in the recording studio and playing some gigs.
Magazine Name Ideas
Ideas for my Music Magazine Name
- Pulse
- Wired
- Top Pop
- Just Music
- Drop the Beat
- Vibe
My Three Favourite Names
- Top Pop - I think that this name would fit well with the my magazine as 'Top Pop' could refer to top of the charts, popular music and that is the main genre of music in my magazine.
- Just Music - I really like this idea as it would fit really well with the style of magazine that I am creating, as it is about all bout different types of music. So, by using 'Just Music' the reader would realise that the magazine is about a varied range of music.
- Vibe - I also think that this name would fit well with my music magazine as I imagine my magazine to be a fun magazine for the reader and 'Vibe' is short vibrant which means upbeat and happy.
